Occupational First Aid Refresher Course

What's In It For Me

By the end of the course, you will be able to render first aid treatment to the casualty during an emergency or accident at the workplace.

Individuals who have already attended the OFAC.

  • Principles and Practice of First-Aid

  • First Aid Requirements in Factories and other Workplaces

  • Wounds, Bleeding and Shock

  • Fractures and Soft Tissue Injuries

  • Handling and Transportation of the Injured

  • CPR and Use of AED

  • Breathing Difficulties

  • The Unconscious Patient

  • Occupational Eye Injuries

  • Burn Injuries

  • Industrial Toxicology

  • Safety and Accident Prevention

  • Management of Medical Emergencies

  • Revision

  • Written and Practical Assessment

Mode of Assessment

  • Written Assessment (30 mins)
    • 20 MCQ on OFA
    • 10 MCQ on CPR
    • 10 MCQ on AED
  • Oral Assessment (5 mins per trainee)
    • Case Studies
  • Practical Assessment
    • Bandaging (5 mins per trainee)
    • CPR and proper use of AED (10 mins per trainee)
  • Oral Examination (5 mins per trainee)
    • Case Scenarios

*Passing Criteria

Must pass theory (70% for OFA questions and 80% for CPR+AED questions) AND

Must pass practical and oral examination

 If fail in CPR-AED, considered as FAILED the whole exam and need to retake the whole course.

If fail in theory or bandaging, trainee only needs to retake the theory and/or bandaging.

Certification Obtained and Conferred by

Upon completion of the course and passing the examination, 2 years validity will be issued to the following certificates:
  • Certificate of achievement endorsed by NTUC LearningHub and accredited by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)
  • NRC endorsed certificate

Course Objectives

To be able to render first aid treatment to the casualty during an emergency or accident at the workplace. (Mandatory training course for Occupational First Aiders)

Pre-requisites

  • To have at least ES WPLN Level 5 & above or equivalent as otherwise, the participants may find the course challenging to understand and pass the required assessments
  • Completed Occupational First Aid Course with CPR+AED (OFA) and currently holding a valid OFAC certificate
  • Must be physically fit and able to render help to another individual during an emergency
