Course Overview

Addressing the needs of Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs) seeking a structured learning process (Align, Identify, Create, Coach and Evaluate) to develop their team leaders is vital in today Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) business environment. This course seeks to equip you with the skills through capability development and coaching and a step by step logical approach aims to provide you with the following new knowledge.

Course Outline

1.  Align Capability Development with various considerations 

The topics include:

  • Legal and ethical considerations relating to the management of capability development
  • Organisational policies and procedures relating to capability development
  • Relevant professional or industry codes of practice and standards relating to the management of capability development as a manager of a department or cross-functional team 

2.  Identify Team Leaders Skills Requirements

 The topics include:

  • Market trends and developments of new and emerging skill requirements, and learning and development
  • Review organisational strategies and business plans to identify impact on team competency requirements
  • Models and methods of training analysis
  • Review current skills of team leaders using appropriate methods and tools to identify skill requirements

3.  Facilitate Learning Opportunities for Team Leaders 

The topics include:

  • Review capability development approach for team leaders to identify areas for improvement
  •  Identify learning and development opportunities and provide resources and support to facilitate the development of team leader skills
  • Work with team leaders to establish their learning priorities and learning and development plans 

4.  Coach Team Leaders 

The topics include:

  • Provide coaching to team leaders to enhance their role performance, taking into consideration their emotional states
  • Implications and impact of coaching and mentoring activities on the individuals participating in the process 

5.  Coach Team Leaders

The topics include:

  • Review coaching outcomes against coaching goals to identify areas for improvement in the coaching process
  • Improve own coaching skills by subscribing to diverse learning channels and participating in peer discussion platforms to enhance workplace performance

Mode of Assessment

You will be assessed through course assessment methods using Written Assessment and Role Play.

Certification Obtained and Conferred by

Upon successfully demonstrating competence in all the knowledge and skills requirements, you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA) by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). This programme is offered on a modular basis only.

Course Objectives

Pre-requisites

You must be able to:

  • Listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills Workforce skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6
  • Read and Write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the ES WSQ WPL Level 6
  • Manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES WSQ Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 6
  • Have at least 3 years of working experience in Professionals, Managers & Executives (PMEs) role

Additional Note

- Important Note -

Transition of Leadership and People Management (LPM) WSQ to Skills Framework (SFw).

Transition Period is 18 months from 1 April 2019 to 30 September 2020.

From 1 April 2019, the Leadership and People Management (LPM) WSQ will be transited to the Skills Framework construct.

  • Each LPM WSQ Skills Standard (SS) is mapped to a Technical Skills and Competencies (TSC) across IP (SFw) and Retail (SF), at the corresponding levels. Following the transition, all SOAs will reflect the respective TSC titles and Proficiency Levels instead of the LPM WSQ SS title
  • Existing LPM WSQ qualifications titles and module bundling will be retained
  • Trainees who have commenced studies of qualification programmes accredited to SS are to complete the programmes within the 18-month transition period. Trainees will be awarded qualifications based on existing SS codes
  • LHUB will offer LPM WSQ modules (SS) till 14 February 2020
  • LHUB will offer LPM (SF) modules under SFw from 1 March 2020
  • There should not be any WSQ courses based on SS from LPM WSQ Framework from 1 October 2020
