This course is designed to foster inter-professional collaboration among different healthcare professionals to cultivate the right attitude towards collaboration regardless of disciplines. The program aims to improve the ability of various healthcare professionals to work collaboratively in a more aligned and ethically appropriate manner through an appreciation of ones role and responsibility of the wider patient care value-chain which transcends beyond hospitals to the community.

Who Should Attend

The target audience is non-supervisory healthcare workers from all job families detailed in the Career Pathways of the Healthcare Skills Framework, and these include the following (non-exhaustive):

  • Pharmacy Technician (Pharmacy)
  • Patient Service Associate (Operations)
  • Patient Service Senior Associate (Operations)
  • Healthcare Assistant /Basic Care Assistant /Nursing Aide (Nursing)
  • Senior Healthcare Assistant / Basic Care Assistant / Nursing Aide (Nursing)
  • Enrolled Nurse (Nursing)
  • Senior Enrolled Nurse (Nursing)
  • Staff Nurse (Nursing)
  • Senior Staff Nurse (Nursing)
  • Therapy Assistant (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy)
  • Senior Therapy Assistant (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy)

Course Duration

Face-to-face Facilitation  :  8.30 am to 5:45 pm (includes Written Assessment of 45 minutes)

Total Training Hours  : 10.5 Hours (includes 3 hours eLearning component)

Total Assessment Hours  : 1 Hour

Written Assessment (45 minutes) conducted on the same day as Face-to-face Facilitation Day

Oral Questioning (15 minutes) conducted on a separate day.

Course Outline

This program also provides the opportunity for an individual to develop adaptive skills and positive mindset towards skills deepening and/or re-skilling, to be readily equipped with in-demand skills to meet the needs of Singapore's ageing population and support the Healthcare ITMs strategic thrusts. Inter-professional Collaboration is also listed as one of the Skills in Demand.

Certification Obtained and Conferred by

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will be issued.

Course Objectives

  • Describe the different types and roles of healthcare professionals involved in care delivery and how each role contributes to the overall patient care
  • Identify individuals strengths, areas of improvements and personal values
  • Identify one's role and responsibilities within the care delivery process and practice effective communication and co-operation that value-add to the team
  • Apply ethical conduct when building professional relationships, and contribute positively to intended outcomes of inter-professional teams and networks

Pre-requisites

Be able to listen, speak, read and write English and use numeracy skills at a proficiency level equivalent to the following:

  • Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 5
  • Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 5
