WSQ Perform Advanced Cleaning of Carpets and Upholstery

Course Overview

On completion of this unit, the trainee shall be able to have the following knowledge and application skills to apply them to the workplace:

  • Prepare for work activities
  • Perform advanced spot & stain removal
  • Perform shampoo cleaning of carpets
  • Perform water extraction cleaning
  • Perform treatment to carpets and upholstery
  • Reinstate work area

32 hours (including assessment)

Course Outline

On completion, the trainee shall be able to:

  • Know the various types and characteristics of carpets and upholstery
  • Know the various types of spoilage, spots, and stains
  • Know basic proper grooming for work
  • Know the various types & proper uses of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Apply basic first-aid knowledge
  • Display appropriate safety signage to reduce hazards before work
  • Know the tools, equipment, supplies, and chemicals for advanced cleaning of carpets and upholstery
  • Perform advanced spot and stain removal on carpets and upholstery
  •  Perform shampoo cleaning of carpets
  • Perform water extraction cleaning of carpets and upholstery
  • Perform treatment to carpets and upholstery
  • Reinstate work area
  • Follow procedures and standards

Mode of Assessment

3 hours  (2 hours 20 minutes for Practical Performance and 40 minutes for Oral Questioning)

Certification Obtained and Conferred by

  • Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)
  • Certificate of Attendance from NTUC LearningHub®
